A Winter Storm Watch and a Blizzard Watch are in effect.
Discussion: Expect significant snowfall amounts and strong northerly winds north of Interstate 90 across eastern South Dakota into parts of west central Minnesota. Blizzard conditions may develop in areas where the heavier snow falls Monday into Monday night. Major Blizzard conditions will be in far Northeast SD and in the Rapid City SD area.
A VERY STRONG LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM WILL MOVE INTO THE REGION LATE SUNDAY AND MONDAY. THERE ARE STILL MANY UNCERTAINTIES WITH THE EXACT TIMING AND TRACK OF THIS SYSTEM...AS WELL AS PRECIPITATION TYPE. HOW QUICKLY RAIN TRANSITIONS TO SNOW WILL HAVE A HUGE IMPACT ON SNOW ACCUMULATIONS. REGARDLESS...THIS STORM SYSTEM HAS THE POTENTIAL TO PRODUCE HEAVY SNOW AND STRONG WINDS ACROSS MUCH OF THE REGION. BLIZZARD CONDITIONS WILL BE POSSIBLE.
Active TSC Weather Alerts:
*Blizzard Conditions in the orange above.
*Extreme Blizzard Conditions will be in and around the Sisseton, SD area.
